As the first day of traveling with Thorin's Company drew to a close, (F/n) Vermyra Took, Mistress Hobbit and newfound burglar extreme, came to several realizations. First, that riding a horse for the better part of 13 hours was enough to bruise her rump worse than any tumble or physical labor. Second, that the dwarves had far more stamina then her or Bilbo could ever hope to match. And lastly, that she was having the time of her life.
For the first part of the morning, she'd shared a horse with Thorin. He'd been rather quiet, but it didn't matter. She'd enjoyed having him so cl

(F/n) Vermyra Took had always had a penchant for getting into trouble. It wasn't exactly by choice, but somehow or other she always managed it. Whether it was tripping headfirst into the cabbage patch, or breaking her cousin's finest crockery, or just being too bloody cheeky for her own good; trouble followed her.
And more often than not, the poor Hobbit paid for her transgressions by being outright excluded. Indeed, most of her kin and neighbors in Hobbiton wanted nothing to do with her. Save for a select few who loved her unconditionally, or felt obligated to keep her close.

Warm rays of the afternoon sun were falling in through the high windows under the ceiling, illuminating the cramped room. The place seemed more like a workshop instead of somebody's house, as not only it was full of equipment but also gave an impression of being unkept for quite some time.
Particles of dust lazily danced in the dim lighting, slowly falling on the wooden floor, which was entirely covered by sheets of pap

‘Breathe in and out’ Y/n chanted to herself. ‘In and out.’ Her breath was shaky as she looked out at the immense army before her. Their armor sparkled in the sunlight like an immense ocean of steel. They were trained. They were soldiers. And they were moving closer to the mountain, slowly but surely. The girl glanced to either side of her. The dwarves were clad in the armor their ancestors had left behind. Y/n thought they looked noble, just as dwarves in battle should. They clasped their weapons with vigor, though a little apprehensively, and there was a glint of eagerness in their eyes that only desperate men hel

Y/n didn’t know how long she and the company had been staying in the castle under the mountain. A week? Two? She’d lost track of time in the dim firelight that lit the halls and danced over the soot-covered walls. Y/n had never seen the dragon, but she knew it was gone. She had felt the ground shake and heard its deep rumbling roar the night it had flown away, the night Bilbo had walked down the hallway the group had not dared go down. Ever since that night, the ground had been still; the days and nights were quiet. The company had moved their packs from the narrow hallway by the hidden door, to the front entrance by the grand ha

Y/n followed the group all night, never gaining but never loosing sight of them. Her arms shook violently and threatened to give out with every push. Dark circles pooled under her eyes and she gripped her poll with a vengeance, in fear it might slip through her fingers.
The sun burst from the horizon just as the company reached the other side of the great lake. They abandoned their boat on the rocky beach and entered the sparse, bolder ridden, forest. Y/n’s boat shored long after the company was out of sight. She hopped out of her dinghy into the shallows. She grabbed her weapon and walked up onto dry land. Y/n dug into her pockets, pu

Chapter 7
I will never recall the first week of this travel again, ever! You swore to yourself. Calling it a disaster would be simply insufficient. First of all, your non-existing skills with riding turned out to be a bigger problem than what Legolas and Tauriel had thought it to be. Your first almost-a-fall occurred a mere one hundred feet away from the gates of the underground palace. After the first day on the horse, you slumped onto the grass happily, not able to feel the lower part of your body anymore. Yet, before you had the chance to relax a bit, the horse raised its tail and, well… relieved itself right next to your he

Y/n stood in Bard’s kitchen with a blanket around her shoulders. Dwarves surrounded her on all sides. The company had crowded into Bard’s home which was not meant to hold more then ten people. His children were there and they were more than a little surprised to find their home filled with strangers. Bard had made fish stew and his eldest son passed out the bowls.
Y/n took her stew from the boy and thanked him. It wasn’t good…per say. But Y/n was so hungry it didn’t matter. The warmth of the food warmed her from the inside out. She glanced at Kili who stood in the corner talking with Fili and Balin. The conversa

The barrels washed up on a sandy shore, miles and miles away from Mirkwood. The dwarfs paddled to dry land and Y/n struggled to do the same. The tide was strong. Y/n dragged her barrel onto shore and looked around her. She was surrounded by soggy and unhappy dwarves. Bifur, Dori, and Oin flopped down on the sand; they relished the feeling of sturdy land under their dripping bodies. Ori sat and began dumping the water from his shoes. Y/n rung out her hair and shivered. Water glistened on her skin. She looked down at herself – what a mess. Her dress was stained and soaked and the heels of her shoes were sinking into the sand.
